I recently discovered that the men’s suit was modeled off of the type of outfit that military generals wear. It got me wondering… what’s the difference between an outfit and a costume?
An outfit is also more personal in some ways, but then again a costume is very personal too. If you asked me and I had no resources, I’d say that the distinction is a costume is make believe, and an outfit is based in reality.

One of my favorite questions to ask people (especially kids) when they see a movie adaptation of a book…
When you read the book after having seen the movie, do you visualize the actors from the movie playing their characters in your mind?
If you’ve seen the Harry Potter movies and you’ve also read the books, does Daniel Radcliffe appear in your mind instead of the young wizard boy you envisioned when you first read the series years ago?
I rarely go to live events on my own. Rarely do I see concerts by myself, or movies, or plays. It just feels so lonely. But when I do go alone to these kinds of events, I get a very special feeling.
When I see a movie or concert alone, and I walk out of the theater… there’s no one to talk to. No one to reflect on the experience with.
It’s a trade.
I give up 8 hours in my 24 hour day in order to get reenergized and recovered. It was fashionable when I was a baby to trade a lot of time for it, because I needed to recover often. But when I was a teen, I thought I didn’t need to recover as much and so spent less time on to sleep… until I crashed and burned mid-week.

Putting a child to bed is one of the most fascinating experiences of parenthood so far.
I’ve never thought about where one actually goes when they go to sleep, not since I was a child. But my son will cry and whimper and cling when I put him down until, all of a sudden, sleep has whisked him away to its magical land of dreams and replenishment.
