The scientific method is a useful tool to explain cause and effect. We can look at a problem, take a guess, run some tests, come up with an explanation and recommend a solution.
Many people, myself included, rely on the scientific method (through research and studies) to make decisions and choices. What food should I eat? How should I work out? All of these choices could be made through examining the research conducted using the scientific method.

There’s a social media challenge where you post a picture of yourself from a decade ago, followed by one of you now. I think it’s mostly used as a vanity thing, so that people feel that they’re better off then they were. I haven’t posted one, but reflecting on on the me of a decade ago is a useful exercise.
For one, you can immediately see what the big themes of my life have been when you look at the last 10 years: becoming a teacher, a father, getting married, taking more responsibility for health and wealth.

Another alternative meditation technique is as follows.
Enter the meditation room, close the door, and don’t open it again for the next 20 minutes. You must stay in this space.
But physically staying in a space is somewhat easy. We could read or watch TV in the same room for hours and hours. Staying inside of a space metaphysically is the hard part.
You’ve got nothing to do, nothing to buy, nowhere to go. It’s just you and an open afternoon and the skies look stormy.
So you head to the mall because you figure that it’ll be slow around this time of day and you can order a coffee and write while you watch people. It’s the mall you’ve been going to since you were a kid and so much has changed. The video game store is now a swim apparel store.
I’ve become fascinated lately with meditation techniques that go beyond just sitting and breathing. It turns out you can meditate basically anywhere, even while you’re driving. In fact, it’s particularly _potent _to meditate while driving. This is because meditation is the process of becoming aware, rather than dozing off. What better place to become aware than on the road? Most of the time we spend driving is spent on other thoughts.
