I can get generative AI to write a sonnet in the voice of Brene Brown.
But it won’t have any social or cultural context for this outside of its training on human-written text.
I can get to write a screenplay that sounds like Aaron Sorkin. But it will move no one.
Or I can get it to write a song that sounds like Taylor Swift, but it won’t wrench my heart.
I’ve spent the last 24 hours writing prompts for the Suno AI to produce AI-generated songs, and I’m full of fascination and whimsy at what’s ahead…
One simple prompt: “Write a song about my son Dezi, who’s a superhero; make it sentimental and powerful and something he would like but not kids’ music.”
What came out was pure magic: a song that sounded like the AI “composer” was trained on Rachel Platten’s Fight Song.
In my task management system, I employ tags to keep things organized.
The most common ones are my tags that relate to energy. This allows me to filter my tasks depending on what kind of energy I’m currently experiencing. Am I braindead after a long day of work? Or, am I in seriouscoffeedeepwork mode? Or something in between like adminrespondtoemail mode?
I also tend to use a category of tags around roles.
I used to tell potential clients that I’m a life coach who specializes in careers.
I don’t say that anymore. It tends to confuse people.
And yet, it’s still true. If you ever work with a career coach who doesn’t understand life coaching, you’re wasting your time and money.
Every job, every pivot, and every bullet on your resume is a little slice of your life.
Each element of your job search needs reflection, feedback, and iteraton.
We often think that it’s virtuous to be a “good” person. But the way in which we are good changes given the circumstance.
What we really are is weird, flawed, and full of human-ness.
It’s better this way.
In order to really get good at their craft, improvisers drop the awareness that the audience is watching and judging. They have to. The quality of their improv depends on it.
It’s mind blowing how hard it is to accept this.
