I have a history of anxiety. I’ve never been formally diagnosed, but I worry and catastrophize quite a bit. I heard someone once say that a good question to ask in a moment of anxiety is… Is it true? Whatever it is that you’re catastrophizing, whatever belief you’re holding that is weighing you down… Is it really true? Can you know beyond a shadow of a doubt? Often, the answer to this question is no.

App-ification" or “Swiss Army Knife”? This article reminds me of a core idea of mine, one that has been brewing over the course of the last couple of years. Will AI tools become “appified?” Meaning, will models like GPT and Claude get wrapped into a million little apps that each solve a specific problem? This means that most people won’t be concerned with prompts and chats, but will just use apps the way they always have, this time with a layer of Generative AI as a feature.

The stories we tell ourselves - notes from Inside Out 2

Ever had a kid’s movie spark a profound realization about careers? That happened to me today while watching Inside Out 2 with my 5-year-old. Two main messages of the movie (no heavy spoilers, though maybe light ones) are: Our emotions don’t get to determine who we are and What we believe about ourselves affects our choices (and as a corollary, our choices affect our career trajectory). It is tempting to believe that navigating a career journey is just about working hard, growing skills, networking, and achieving important things.
